By most economic measures Nigeria has been the most exploited - TopicsExpress

By most economic measures Nigeria has been the most exploited african state, post colonialism. Foreign governments and MNCs have contributed to the destruction of the countrys fragile social rubric for the sake of petro-dollars by pitting one group against another that goes back decades before we could even say Ken Saro Wiwa. And having willing, corrupt dictators and politicians only added to the woe that is the current Nigeria. The situation in Nigeria is not an accident or an aberration or an african thing, it is a product of years and years of corruption, exploitation and turning a blind eye and offering a willing hand for the sake of resource whoring by everyone. While it may sound like a complex ethical question to ask, what type of people would let this happen to children, the answer is simpler than that. The types of people who let this happen are the types of people who are sitting in an office in DC, New york, London, Brussels or Abuja. The responsibility of a failed state (that is broken by MNCs and superpowers fighting over resource rights) falls equally on all players, not just the most convenient one .i.e. the Nigerians. #Bringbackourgirls may be easier than bringing back Nigeria, as the list of people who have taken from Nigeria is longer than Liam Neesons weird lanky frame. So the koran-thumping, hairtrigger-temper-degenrates that is Boko Haram is just a product of the problems of rampant bastardization of native cultures while trying to introduce alien secularist values to promote cut throat capitalism. That will not be cured by any hashtags or sending the military.
