By no means am I a feminist. In fact, you could say that I am diametrically opposed to the feminist movement in the context that it sometimes holds that women should have more rights than men (despite the fact that it superficially aims towards equality). What I do stand against are the inauthentic models that many members of our society coerce others into drowning themselves in. Of course, there are those who run to these inauthentic models of their own accord too. It wasnt too long ago that if you didnt fit in or didnt care about what others thought, you would be ostracized and eventually banned from your respective tribe and literally be alone in fending for yourself in the elements. I understand the position. We are just trying to protect ourselves, but this survival reflex is no longer necessary. Be who you are to the point that it makes you cry in public. Dont be coerced by others to fit their perceptions of who you should be to comfort their limited perspective of the world around them. You are not responsible for another persons intolerance. This isnt just for girls, its for all models and minority or majority groups. You are who you are and you feel what you feel and you think what you think, and there are many people out there who want you to hide it. It doesnt change the fact that you are still you, its just one more day that others dont have to see a reflection of how inauthentic they are when they compare themselves to you. Dont enable those people. Break the mold, or die trying.
