By the time people get to be my age, most of us have been on both sides of heartbreak a time or three....and we start feeling like this song is too much truth... We bear the scars that tell our stories. Some we hide, and some we display like badges of honor or martyrdom, as warning signs to ward off potential dangers (like new love!), or even as emotional scarlet letters. We make countless mistakes born of the fear of being marked with yet more battlewounds... Yet we keep hoping and trying anyway...because the alternative -- a life with no hope of love -- is too dark and empty to even consider... I know this song isnt eloquent or serious or ostensibly very deep or substantive...but it is simple and real, and its been on loop in my head for months now.
