By this time most of you are probably aware of WDFW’s latest aggressive move against agriculture in Washington state: The “Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project” (PSNERP), a $1.5B plan to destroy 5,000 acres of agricultural land distributed over 11 sites in 6 counties (King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Island, and San Juan) on Puget Sound. The WDFW press release announcing PSNERP is in the thread below. I am writing at this time on behalf of the Snohomish County Farm Bureau, the Skagit County Farm Bureau, and the Skagit County Cattlemen’s Association to invite you and other associations with an interest in agriculture or property rights to a meeting for the purpose of organizing opposition to this Project. The meeting will be hosted by the Skagit County Farm Bureau at their regular meeting location, 1833 Park Lane in Burlington, at 7 pm on Monday, October 27, 2014. . Driving directions are simple: Take the Cook Road exit on I-5 just north of Burlington, go east, turn south onto Old 99, then left onto North Hill Blvd, go 0.2 mile, then turn right onto Park Lane and go to 1833. We plan to have a tight agenda and keep this initial meeting short. Please attend. We need to get organized to oppose this attack on agriculture. Hope to see you at the meeting, Ed Husmann, President Snohomish County Farm Bureau: Bill Schmidt, President Skagit County Farm Bureau: Gary Knaus, President Skagit County Cattlemen’s Association Please let me know if you are planning to attend. Thanks. Ed Husmann (edsapples@frontier)
