ByeBye… “Nobody can bring you peace but yourself.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson Life… not always a cake-walk but still so so full of sweetness… Over the last 48 years we have moved a lot – starting with a $15. a week flat, eventually several grand homes, rolling landscapes then the simplification round to a fab city loft and the worry-free times of fine apartment dwelling. Time to run away once more…. moving from our 8 year stint in the historic city-by-the-sea to a gentler country retreat to engage in some peace and quiet demeanor, -working on one last book, ya, I’ve been testing out ideas on you here recently, need the right time and space now to write, to live the next round of my GodGivenGracious life. I think I became aware of the value of ‘peaceful focus’ to our endeavors, to our very existence, many moons ago from a poignant song by then popular, Peter Allen. The first verse goes… Quiet please, theres a lady on stage. She may not be the latest rage, But shes singing, and she means it. And she deserves a little silence. Quiet please, theres a woman up there, And shes been honest through her songs Long before your consciousness was raised. Now doesnt that deserve a little praise. So put your hands together, help her along, All thats left of the singers, all thats left of the song. Stand for the ovation, And give her one last celebration. We seem to live in an era, in a world, that not only sees little value in the ‘tempo of silence,’ I sometimes think we don’t even understand it. A never-ending stream of loud-sound-consciousness is the norm in most of our day in day outs. And ‘brain-peace?’ Well that’s near impossible in this little-tech-here-little-tech-there-little-tech-everywhere biosphere. The Nasbitt quote I so often tout in my lectures is: “The more high tech we become the more high touch we desire.” So run away I must, at the speed of dark. The buzzword now is not downsizing, it’s right-sizing – a much more gentile thought. No more storefront studio, no more official office-cave, just a pocket-sized home hide-away to bask in the ambience of a natural setting, play with the gandkidos, breathe, give thanks. Gotta go pack a box of books… ok, lots of boxes of books…see you all someday on the other side of Facebook sabbatical… ☺ “I dont really wanna know what makes you leave, or when youll be back. I just wanna know what will make me cry at your arrival.” ― Ade Santi I’ll miss you my dear dear friends. Hugs More Hugs me
