Byron Beck asked an important question in light of recent news and the boycott of the Sellwood Farmers Pantry. He basically asked what if the roles were reversed? This question has created unique debate however, I want to share with you a real experience I had (this is not a what if - this is real): I have an example of being blacklisted - I had shared a link to some jobs that were being advertised on El Hispanic News on my personal social media page, and unbeknownst to me I was being watched by someone who claimed to be a White Supremacist. This person wrote hateful comments calling me every name in the book. He hated the fact that I own El Hispanic News and PQ Monthly. He posted that he shared my profile on every White Supremacy website and forum and made threats against me and my work. I of course took screen shots, made hard copies of the post, and called the FBI. These type of trollers and blacklists are very real, and very scary. Because of the demographics my media outlets focus on I know there are MANY businesses who wont do business with us because of our targeted population. Therefore, I make it a point to do business with those who advertise with us. The main reason being I know they want my business, and secondly, I know I will be safe and enjoy my experience with these business. #ProudQueer #ProudLatina
