C-span has a CFR ‘expert’ and a guy from the world policy network. They are talking about Russia and Crimea. Containing Putin, more sanctions, international outrage towards Putin. BLAH BLAH BLAH. All of that is merely background noise to me. Putin has a 75% approval rating in Russia. His people love him for restoring the pride of a mighty, strong and surging Russian empire. A rebirth of Russian heritage. Once again we are not even at a level of knowing that the whole dynamic needs to be changed. This may be brutal to say, but it needs to be done. After decades of following Russia, and a solid 10 years of understanding Putin, we should do something akin to this : I know Putin enjoys having some of the world’s most vicious computer hackers, who are capable, of great cyber-destruction. We need to send in whatever black ops assets are needed, whith piano wire, and eliminate everyone of them. Then a polite third party back-channel message is delivered to Putin saying “We can touch you anywhere. I do mean anywhere.” Putin would then understand that America is capable of brutal strength, and the dynamic of the global-policy chessboard/dance floor would now favor us. Putin would have the psychological make-up of his thinking, for global emprial needs would change. What say you America?
