CALABAR -The supposed leader of the Klux Klu Klan in Obudu in northern Cross River State, Edward Ushie, has been arrested by police. In the past three weeks the Klux Klu Klan and the Vikings Confraternity have engaged in a supremacy conflict . Edward was arrested along with his second in command, Otogo Gabriel. They were moved from Obudu to the Cross River State Police Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar where they are being interrogated by detectives. A police source said the duo had mentioned other cult members who are being trailed by the police. "Some of them are known politicians and we have left a message with the Obudu council chairman, Dr Emmanuel Ikwen and the paramount ruler of the area, Uti J. D. Agba to tell those we are looking for to report at the Obudu Police station or the police headquarters because if they fail to do so they would be declared wanted," a senior police detective told Vanguard. The cult war which is alleged to be politically motivated has so far claimed six lives in the past three weeks and the police have been on the trail of the warring cultists which led to the arrest of the two gang leaders. Reacting to the killings and subsequent arrests of the cultists who were earlier said to be students of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Dr Eugene Ibili, the Provost of the College, said the school was cultism unfriendly and had battled the scourge to extinction in all its campuses. The Provost said the school no longer operate hostel accommodation and for a long time has not witnessed the activities of cultism and that normal academic activities were going on at the time of the cult war. "Normal academic and other activities were going on uninterrupted during the period because there was no cult activity on any of our campuses," he said The Police Commissioner for Cross River state Mr A Sodipo said the cultist have no right to disturb the peace of the people and would all soon be arrested and brought to book.
