** CALL FOR FINAL FEEDBACK ON BEYOND 2015 GROWTH & EMPLOYMENT - TopicsExpress

** CALL FOR FINAL FEEDBACK ON BEYOND 2015 GROWTH & EMPLOYMENT PAPER *** DEADLINE = 23rd JULY As you may know, through a range of coordinating organisations, Beyond 2015 are producing civil society papers to guide our thematic input on the content of the Post-2015 Development Framework. I am contacting you to find out whether your organisation would be interested in reviewing the final draft of the ‘Beyond 2015 Growth & Employment Paper’ that Restless Development are coordinating on behalf of the campaign. THE PROCESS SO FAR Process: Earlier this year, Restless Development reviewed the official UN/ILO Growth and Employment Consultation Paper which came out of the main consultation meeting in Tokyo in May last year. We pulled out the key themes (and some additions which we felt were missing) in order to inform a response. This initial paper was shared with the Beyond 2015 network for input, and went on to inform the final structure of the position paper that we now attach for your thoughts. Therefore, whilst the structure may look quite different from the previous draft shared, much of the original content remains, with your previous thoughts and feedback incorporated as far as possible. The main differences in content lie in the contextual analysis which was previously omitted, and anything that relates to processes that have taken place since, such as the online thematic consultations and the UN High Level Panel Report. Purpose: Baring in mind that the UN consultation on G&E has concluded, this paper will act as a bit of a guide for how B2015 carries the conversations on growth and employment forward at the national and regional level, and at the GA in September. Further details on the UN thematic Growth and Employment consultation can be found here: worldwewant2015.org/employment HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE If you are willing and able to contribute to this final review, we would be delighted to have your thoughts on the attached pre-final draft either via email in 500 words or less, or by adding comments to the document itself (using the comment tool, rather than adding track changes directly in to the text). We kindly ask that you avoid sending us full papers or sets of recommendations (unless you wish to site very specific inputs), but instead please be as targeted and specific as possible with your feedback and/or suggested changes. At this final stage, we are looking for feedback on only the most pressing of concerns: - Is there anything fundamental that has been missed out from either the context analysis, or the recommendations? - Do you feel that any of the content directly conflicts with Beyond 2015’s core principles and vision for the post-2015 framework? - Is there anything that you feel needs great substantiation or referencing? If so, can you provide any resources for these gaps? - Is the paper clearly structured / navigable? - Can you share knowledge on the specific subjects which are highlighted for specialist input on (disability, aging, indigenous communities) - We will be doing some final trimming down to ensure that the paper is concise and that there is no repetition, can you identify any areas where this is needed? This is a great opportunity to ensure civil society gets a say in the new growth and employment agenda moving forward, and I do hope you’re able to get involved. Please send your feedback to Hannah via [email protected] by close of play on Tuesday 23rd July. Kind Regards, Hannah Smith Policy Coordinator restlessdevelopment.org
