***CALL FOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATES/ CONSULTANTS*** The African Development Fund is providing grant support to the Republic of Zimbabwe for the Governance and Institutional Support Project (GISP). ZEPARU is partnering the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development in implementing the sub-component of the GISP that focuses on “Undertake Mining Sector Analytical and Advisory Activities to Strengthening Mining Sector Policies and Governance Arrangements”. In this regard, ZEPARU has been engaged to undertake the following research studies: 1. An in depth training needs assessment survey for the mining sector in Zimbabwe; 2. Mineral Economics Research aimed at Simplifying the Mineral Legislation Governing the Zimbabwe Mining Sector; 3. Best Practices in Supporting Artisanal and Small Scale Mining in Zimbabwe; 4. Global Best-Practice in Establishing (Configuring) and Managing a Sovereign Wealth Fund; 5. Econometric Analysis of the Probable Impact on Fiscal Revenues of the Price and Production Scenarios of Selected Minerals; 6. Reconfiguration of the Zimbabwe Geological Survey. These research studies will be phased over a period of ± one year commencing in October 2014. Qualifications of Prospective Associate Research fellows/consultants In line with the focus of the studies outlined above, ZEPARU is looking for Associate Research Fellows/Consultants to work with ZEPARU Research Fellows to undertake these assignments. The qualifications required include: Post-graduate qualification and extensive research/training experience in mineral economics; geology; geoscience; public finance; taxation; fiscal studies; econometrics; capacity needs assessment; law with specific emphasis on mineral legislation and governance; research experience in artisanal and small scale mining; financial economics; sovereign wealth fund/investment fund management. The minimum qualification is a Master’s Degree with extensive research experience and a PhD with relevant research experience is a distinct advantage.Qualified Applicants should submit their CVs and a short narrative clearly indicating their research study of interest for consideration.
