CALL FOR VISUAL CREATIVES Berlin Film Journal - TopicsExpress

CALL FOR VISUAL CREATIVES Berlin Film Journal is looking for talented illustrators/designers/artists/photographers to feature in its exploration of the world of cinema. Although the job is unpaid, we are offering a great opportunity for you to showcase your work and enter into new and exciting collaborations with people driven by a shared passion for film and aesthetics. As a collaborator, you will help shape the journal’s visual identity, giving you the chance to leave your personal stamp on our different projects. You will be working together with writers and journalists, providing visual material to compliment their essays, interviews or reviews. Berlin Film Journal’s editors will be the connecting link that sets up the initial writer/artist contact to provide you with necessary information about tasks. The work will be assigned to you, so it is up to you to capture the essence of the writing and reflect the work visually using your chosen means of expression. Whether you are based in Berlin like the Berlin Film Journal or not is not an issue. To be considered for jobs please send in a sample of your work with a short introduction of who you are and what your artistic point of view is. Try to give us some information about your favorite films and filmmakers so we can pair you up with like-‐minded writers and journalists. Please include the following: • A short introduction/profile. • 5-‐6 chosen examples of your work (please consider the size of the files). • Links to blogs, websites and/or online portfolios. • Your contact information. It is especially important to include the 5-‐6 chosen examples because these will be viewed as representative of your body of work. WHAT WE’RE ABOUT The journal is dedicated to covering independent and world cinema, with a particular focus on interesting films and filmmakers overlooked by the established film media. Although we don’t mind sinking our teeth into a fresh batch of summer blockbusters, what gets our cinematic juices flowing is the sight and sound of authentic and gutsy filmmaking. We do not roll our eyes at big budget commercial films nor are we automatically infatuated with films that come under the art-house label. We prefer to wrestle with the ideas and ambiguities, and encourage opinionated, even ranting pieces, which show in-‐depth understanding of the topic at hand. The journal aims to be a forum of eclectic film criticism, study and discussion, made by and for people who are seriously passionate about film. Send your material and/or further inquiries to: berlinfilmjournal@gmail We look forward to seeing your submissions and potentially working with you!
