The Senate floor debate has started in earnest and we need your help to hold the line against bad amendments. TODAY, the Senate is expected to vote on Senator Grassley’s amendment to further delay the already arduous 13-year process to citizenship. Under this amendment, the 11 million undocumented individuals in this country will not be able to take the first step towards citizenship -- registering for provisional status -- until the Secretary of DHS certifies to Congress that she has maintained “effective control” over the entire southern border for six months. Putting in such a trigger would delay even the initial registration process and could mean people will continue to remain undocumented for YEARS!
