CALL TO ACTION - Comment on Master Plan for Woodboro Lakes Wildlife Area in Wisconsin. The comment period is open through Friday, January 30, 2015. Your comments are needed!! The Master Planning Process for the Woodboro Lakes Wildlife Area, a 3,000 acre property owned and managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, has begun. This property was former paper company land and purchased by the DNR in 1999. The Woodboro Wildlife Area is primarily composed of aspen and white birch with areas of red oak, red maple and white pine. An extensive network of hunter walking trails and several lightly developed public access roads run through the property. The property is not currently open to ATVs but there is interest from some local groups to establish a new ATV trail through the property. The property is heavily used by hunters. Grouse hunting is the number one use with bow and gun deer hunting, bear, turkey, small game and waterfowl hunting also being popular. Other common activities include trapping, paddling, bird watching, berry picking, hiking and snowshoeing, biking, snowmobiling and sightseeing by vehicle. You are invited to provide your input on the propertys future direction and any important issues you think should be addressed in the master plan.
