CALL TO PRAYER Calling Christians to pray for the salvation of Muslims But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (Luke 6:27-28) Pray for the Unrest in the Middle East Dear Tony, The words of Jesus our Messiah echo in my mind daily as I watch the news from the Muslim world. The senseless violence continues to increase against civilians daily. Car bombs seem to be the favorite weapon to kill many innocent people. Yesterday a huge explosion rocked the city of Beirut. The explosion was a result of a car bomb that killed many in a Shiite neighborhood. This was retaliation for the actions of Hizballah in Syria. The war between the Sunni and Shiite Muslims is escalating and many people are dying. This war began in 656 A.D. and continues to rage today. Every year Shiite Muslims gather on the tenth of Muharram to mourn the death of Ali and his children Hassan and Hussein. This war continues unabated in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Thousands have died in Iraq in the last 30 days due to sectarian violence using car bombs. Click here for Article. Egyptian Protesters Turn Fury on Coptic Christians Looking towards Egypt and the situation, there is anger, hate and violence. Some 40 churches have been burned and thousands are injured with more than 800 dead. The war in Egypt is between different Sunni groups and political groups all fighting for control over the political process in that country. Again, Christians are attacked by angry mobs who want to release their anger. The situation in Egypt is so volatile that no one has been able to control it. All actions now are military actions! Hate and anger are the roots of these violent actions. Regardless of the outward reason of politics or religion, more deeply, hate is the fuel of all this. Christ offered the true solution more than 2000 years ago. There is no hope to be offered to the Muslim world as long as hate rules the minds and hearts of people. Today, I ask that we shift our focus to pray for the situation in Lebanon and in Egypt. Pray that God will use these events to draw people to Christ. Pray that the Christian community continues to grow and multiply. Pray for our ministry partners in Lebanon, as they work to offer relief to the refugees. Pray that people in the Muslim world hear the words of Christ, turn their life around and seek his love to melt away the hatred. God answers prayer. God answers the requests of his children. God answers at the right time. Reaching Muslims for Christ, Fouad Masri President Crescent Project 317-679-8269 [email protected]
