CALL TO VIGILANCE 2-1st Peter 5vs8-11:Jesus during His ministry on earth constantly spoke about being vigilant.In Mark 13vs33 toward the end of His ministry He told His disciples Watch and Pray.At the garden of Gethsemane s he prayed,he still found time to go and encourage His disciples concerning being vigilant.Watch and Pray that ye enter not into temptation-Matt.20vs41.Vigilance also calls for not being careless.Carelessness can result in fall and backsliding John 21vs1-3.Joseph was an exmple of a watchful and not careless person.He said,How then can I do this great wickedness,and sin against God(Gen.39vs9)In our passage Peter after rising from several falls occassioned by his emotions and lack of self-control,left us a warning for every carrier of Gods grace.Be sober be vigilant1st Peter 5vs8.As Jesus was teaching on the issue of his second coming He also emphasis this by sayingWatch therefore for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come(Matt.24vs42)We need to check our careless emotion,habit,relationship,tastes,desire and not end up like Samson who with all his anointing died with his enemies.Carelessness has no regard even for the anointed. We need to be careful and sensitive in all we are doing as we are close to the end of time. O Lord,thank you for bringing me to the end of this month,let all killers of grace die in my life in the name of Jesus.Amen
