Patronize our own existing businesses; Build our own businesses “If black America counted as an independent country, its wealth would rank 11th in the world. However, African Americans continue to squander their vast spending power, relegating blacks to economic slavery instead of financial freedom, according to several consumer reports detailing the use of cash in the black community” ~Stacey Brown, Washingtoninformer~ According to the Nielsen Company study entitled “African-American Consumers: Still Vital, Still Growing,” which was commissioned by the National Newspaper Publishers Association, shows the underrepresented potential and spending power of the African American community. The report’s findings, which will be presented at the June conference of the National Association of Black Accountants Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, found that the African American population is an economic force to be reckoned with, with a projected buying power of $1.1 trillion by 2015. The total dollar amount spent in the US during the holiday season beginning November 2013 - December 2013 was $602.2 Billion. That was just two months of shopping; mass consumerism. WHAT CAN WE DO WITH THIS TYPE OF POWER??? WHAT MUST WE DO WITH THIS TYPE OF POWER??? THIS IS OUR FIGHTING POWER, THIS IS OUR WEAPON, THIS IS OUR AMMUNITION….. LET’S USE IT!!! WISELY!! BOYCOTT THE EUROPEAN HOLIDAY SEASON….. THESE ARE NOT OUR ANCESTORS TRADITIONS!!!
