CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS! Were pleased to announce the 2015 theme for entries to our annual Skerries Photographers Calendar. It is Skerries Streetscapes. Were looking for images of the familiar in Skerries but from a different perspective or angle; the ballet of night-time car lights for instance, or that special magic that both dusk or dawn can cast over a Skerries street or the houses and shops there. Snow, autumn leaves or the glistening puddles of rain can evoke deep feelings of nostalgia for Skerries, as can the solitude of some of our towns back lanes and alleys, the weathered cracks or wire-festooned poles there, seemingly frozen in time, watched over, perhaps, by the solitary figure of a cat or crow. Images from imaginative angles can make the familiar in Skerries seem strange or fascinating also, from the level of a path, for instance, or from off the coast - or from the air. We invite you to share your unique eye view in our 2015 calendar celebrating our town and its photography. Featured photographers (the chosen main image for each calendar month) will include a thumbnail photo of the photographer and a quote from them about their photograph along with contact info should the photographer wish to sell prints and suchlike. In previous years, weve left a free copy of the calendar in The Snug pub along with the price of a pint for every photographer published. This year we plan to hold a launch, where photographers can meet each other over some food and drink and discuss each others work. Closing date for entries is August 31, 2014.
