CAN WE GIVE MY SON JORDAN XBOX CANADY A CONQUACKULATIONS ON EARNING FIRST-TEAM ALL-WOODLAND WEST HONORS!!! GREAT JOB BOY!! There were four New Berlin players who earned six honorable mention spots on the 2014 NOW All-Suburban Football Team, three from Eisenhower and one from West. High honorable mention Seniors David Beshensky and Nathan Erickson each made high honorable mention, which is comparable to second team. Beshensky made it at two positions while Erickson was high honorable mention as a punter and honorable mention as a place-kicker. Beshensky, a 6-foot-3-inch, 240 pounder with a 285-pound bench press and a 480-pound squat, made it at offensive and defensive line. He played right tackle and three-technique defensive tackle. He was one of our strongest players and was the anchor of both the offensive and defensive lines, coach Matt Kern said. Beshensky was voted as co-Woodland Conference (West) Lineman of the Year and first-team all-Woodland Conference (West) on both offense and defense. He is a quiet team leader and one of the most respected members of the team by linemen and underclassmen, Kern said. Besides the contributions of Nate Erickson, he would have been voted by our staff clearly as the MVP of the team among position players. Erickson was a four-year varsity kicker and punter and was voted unanimous first team all-Woodland Conference (West) at both kicker and punter. He was also first-team all-Woodland Conference (West) kicker in 2012 and 2013. He has a 4.5 star rating from the Kohls Kicking service and is ranked by their site as the 43rd-best kicker in the senior class in the country. He has good size (6-3, 185 pounds) and is a decent athlete (4.9 40-yard dash). He was five-for-seven on field goals, including a game winner from 33 yards in overtime against Greenfield in week eight and a three-field-goal effort to help down New Berlin West. Coach Matt Kern said he doesnt give team awards, but Erickson was likely the team MVP because he clearly swung at least two of the teams four wins. He has field-goal range up to 55 yards and had touchbacks on nine of 20 kickoffs. Honorable mention Eisenhower junior Jordan Canady, a 6-2 164-pound wide receiver, earned first-team all-Woodland West honors. West sophomore Mitch Hewitt, a 6-3 225-pounder, also earned all-Woodland Conference West first-team honors as a defensive end-linebacker and was a bright spot on the Vikings young squad.
