***CAN YOU HELP LULA OVERCOME HER PAST?*** A volunteer writes: Little Lula, a young Norwich Terrier was left into our care as her family was going through some hardships. She lived in harmony with cats and children and would be fine with strangers. Lula is so pretty that for a while I really wanted to take her out but kept missing out on her...Last night, I made my move and brought my magic wand: roastbeef treats. I had been told that Lula was a hard liner and a nipper. She indeed growled at me as I opened her kennel door but thought better when she saw the treat that she ate right from my hand. Now..down to business.. We have to go out... I leashed her with minimal difficulty but taking her down from her upper cage was no small feat. Somehow..we made it to the yard safely for both of us.. Lula was happy off leash, did some business, got all scared by a dog who came sniffing our pen and jumped on the bench and onto my lap for protection. Now, we were suddenly and instantaneously friends which lead to heavy petting and some good time together. Lula is really a delightful little girl. She was cool now to go back to her den, like a good and well behaved little dog... Lula needs out now... A safe home, an understanding and loving master...and she will be again, the sweet babe she always was. Come and meet Lula at the Manhattan shelter and make her your forever best friend
