CAPS UNITED IN GOOD SHAPE HARARE giants CAPS United are looking in good shape in the second half of the season with high hopes for a fruitful season after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup in emphatic fashion at the weekend. The Green Machine are one of the big guns through to the last eight of the tournament following a 3-0 victory over Chapungu on Saturday. Assistant coach Mike Madzivanyika yesterday praised the commitment shown by the players. “Of course, we have had some good results of late but it all comes down to the players’ commitment,” said Madzivanyika. “We work as a team, everyone at the club but these guys deserve the credit because they have been putting in lots of hard work. “If you want results you have to work hard for that. We always have to put in everything into whatever we are doing, be it at training or on the field of play. “As a team we just want to do our best and then see how it goes at the end of the season.” Makepekepe have a good chance to win their first league title in nine years. They are in third place after 19 games, with just two points separating them from the leading teams ZPC Kariba and Dynamos. Their coach, Mangwiro, is attending a Caf A Licence coaching course and Madzivanyika is taking the responsibility at the training ground ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Shabanie Mine at Maglas. Ironically, while Makepekepe are third in the race, their opponents are in danger of relegation as they lie third from the bottom with 22 points. CAPS striker Dominic Chungwa is still on the sidelines with a groin injury. “We have to shift our attention to the league. It’s quite obvious that second round games are always difficult because every team will be fighting for points, whatever position they will be on the log table. “So we are not looking much into our opponents. We would rather focus on our team and how we should maximise getting points in the remaining matches,” said Madzivanyika.
