Guillermo ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 19 (PIA6) – Faculty members of Capiz State University are set for the full implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education program in 2016. Campus Administrator Dr. Editha Alfon of CAPSU-Roxas City disclosed that 28 members of their faculty have already concluded their Training Methodology (TM)-Level I training as a requirement for the granting of National Certificate II (NC II) by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to the passers. Alfon stressed that so far, they were able to send 28 of their shop and related-subject teachers to said training, 14 of whom underwent the training in June and the remaining 14 others last July. She said that this month, another batch of faculty members will again be sent for the training in order that their school will be ready for the program. According to her, their teachers were trained food technology, automotive, electronics, electricity and beauty care courses for the TM-level I. “The education thrust today, particularly under the K to 12 program, is already focused on skills and technology development which teachers must be prepared,” she said. Alfon said that the training program will give a greater advantage to their faculty members to address the trend of the present education system of preparing their graduates to become productive citizens and to earn livelihood after graduation from Grade 12. “The K to 12 program will have a good impact because our graduates will become more globally competitive,” she said. Alfon also revealed that she already received a call from the Malaysian agency expressing the agency’s willingness to absorb the students from CAPSU who will be undergoing an on-the-job training (OJT).
