CARAMEL YUMMIES “ I like this recipe because it’s easy to make; it’s good chewy, gooey, delicious; and my family and friends gobble them up.” — Jeannie Sutton, Sheridan BARS ¾ cup butter or margarine, softened ¾ cup packed brown sugar 1 cup all- purpose flour 1 cup rolled oats ½ teaspoon baking soda ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup semi- sweet chocolate chips ½ cup chopped pecans TOPPING ¾ cup caramel ice cream topping 3 tablespoons all- purpose flour Preheat oven to 350 degrees. For bars combine butter and sugar in large bowl. Mix well. Add flour, oats, bak-ing soda and salt. Mix until mixture resembles course crumbs. Remove half of oat mixture, set aside. Press remaining mixture into bottom of greased 9- inch square baking pan. Bake 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. For topping combine cara-mel topping and flour in small bowl. Drizzle over chips and pecans. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture. Bake 15 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Yield 16 servings. ( This recipes doubles easily using a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.)
