CARBS & CHOLESTEROL: But High-Carbohydrate Diets Like Cheerios Help Heart Disease Because The Commercial Says So Right? I guess it helps heart disease in the same way the tooth fairy collects your teeth, Santa Clause gets stuck in your chimney, and rubbing a rabbit’s foot provides you with unlimited charm and good luck. Simple processed carbohydrates and sugars – including those in Cheerios and other cereals – predispose you to heart disease. Sugar is the foe in cardiovascular disease not fat. Saturated fats are not dangerous. High carbohydrate diets are. The killer fats are the trans-fats from partially hydrogenated oils, other processed fats such as canola oil/vegetable oil, and simple processed sugars. Not real fat that comes from real animals (tallow, duck fat, ghee) and real plant (coconut, olive, avocado). Remember, published research shows us higher cholesterol protects you from gastrointestinal disease, pulmonary disease and hemorrhagic stroke. Conversely, there is no correlation between cholesterol and heart attack in published research. Cholesterol is only a minor player in the cascade of inflammation which is a cause of heart disease. Monounsaturated and saturated fats (avocado oil, coconut oil, animal fat) protect you from metabolic syndrome. Sugar - by way of high carbohydrate dieting - is the real foe in cardiovascular disease. So if you or your family member have high cholesterol, have been told by the doctor to eat better, or youre simply worried about cholesterol then remember this: Chances are youre eating way too many carbs. What did you have for breakfast? Bread? Toast? Cereal? What did you have for lunch? Bread? Sandwich? What do you snack on? Sugar? Fruit? Cake? Candy? Chances are those who have high cholesterol also have high triglycerides due to crappy, high carb diet. Crappy high carb junk they are told on TV like eating Cheerios is good for you and fat/meat is not. If high carb diets and cereals are good for you, then why is it everyone with a belly and shitty health tend to be the same ones who continue to eat these cereals and fall victim to television lies?
