CARNIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT - It is with great regret that we have POSTPONED the 2013 Oundle Carnival planned for July 14 until 2014. Read full letter explaining here oundlecarnival.co.uk/ and below... Oundle Carnival Postponed until 2014 Dear Residents, Business Owners and Supporters It is with great regret that I have to inform you that we have postponed the 2013 Oundle Carnival planned for July 14th. The event has become, in the past 4 years, a central part of the Oundle Calendar, something that has been enjoyed and appreciated by one and all for its entertainment, the quality of the days’ festivities but mostly for the Parade, something we were all very proud of. It captured your imagination and signalled a day of pleasure forthcoming. The Carnival Parade through the Town has always been exciting, loud and stimulated the senses with a multitude of floats and walkers; children and cars; music and performers alike enjoying a tremendous reception. Sadly this year we have not been able to gather as full and spectacular Parade as previous years. Despite a great deal of hard work and effort from all quarters we could not get the bands and pipers; the music and quantity of entries to give the Parade the critical mass we needed to ensure the usual spectacle. We deliberated very hard over this, it was not an easy decision at all, but, given our over-riding sense of responsibility to give you the best Parade we possibly could, we had to acknowledge we have failed and rather than disappoint you on the day we felt we had to postpone the Carnival until 2014 and return with the best Parade you have ever seen! Many of you will be disappointed, I can assure you none more than us, however we have to thank all of you who have committed time and energy in preparing for this years Carnival. We are very sorry if you feel let down. What must be said is that we do intend to be there in 2014 with a Carnival in Oundle for all to participate in. In order to help us put our early plans together there are a number of questions on which we would appreciate your feedback, please contact me at [email protected] alternatively fill in the form on the web-site anonymously. • Is the Town Centre the best place for the Carnival? Would a site on the outskirts of the Town be better. • Is July the right time for the Carnival? Would September or June be better. • Does the Carnival need a Feature Performance as in previous years • Do you have any ideas that would improve the Carnival There are many ways to help put on a Community event. Would you be willing to offer some help or support? If so please leave your feedback with your name and address on our website oundlecarnival.co.uk or contact me [email protected] through the site. Yours sincerely Neil Fraser Oundle Carnival - Chair
