CARRYING CARE.... READ: MATTHEW 6: 25-34 NO ONE EVER SAID life would be easy. After all, we live a fallen world, and we are subject to all the heartaches and disappointments that accompany a normal existence. Anxiety, worry, and care go along with living; its what we do with them that really counts. This is where Christians have the advantage. They have a Savior who bears their burdens. How shallow is the worlds way of handling anxiety! Every year, a group of famous men, all members of an exclusive club in California, get together for an elaborate lakeside ritual called The Cremation of Care. The Wall Street Journal reported one man as saying that the ceremony is intended to symbolize that whatever our problems, our pressures, our anxieties in the real world, this is a special time, a time to go away and invite a different range of emotions and feelings. An efigy of Care is burned, and a band plays Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight. Every effort is made to escape all feelings of anxiety. But after the weekend is over, the worries always return. The same old stress pattern is in effect again because the underlying problems are still there. Believers in Christ dont have to stage elaborate rituals to escape their worries for a brief time so they can face reality again. They can go to the Savior in prayer, who will lift their cares and quiet their troubled hearts. Are you still trying to shoulder lifes burdens by yourself? Then cast them all upon Christ, who cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7) HAVE A BLESSED THURSDAY, FRIENDS! JESSICA MARIE J. PAULINO...
