CASE STUDY OF THE WEEK : How Facebook helped a small swiss village goes global One of the most successful Facebook campaigns I have read to date. Obermutten, a small mountain village in Swiss has undertaken a campaign for Facebook to attract more likes on their fan page on Facebook. Graubünden is a charming Swiss village with 76 residents, a hotel and until recently, not many visitors. To help boost tourism in the area, they launched an innovative Facebook campaign that offered a personal touch. They realized that there are many Facebook fans who click the Like button, but who never gain any real connection to the brand. They created a Facebook page for the little village and the local mayor made a remarkable promise in the first video posted on the page: Just click on like, and your profile picture will be posted on the Communes official notice board. In no time at all, the board was completely covered with fans. In order to deal with the flood of inquiries from fans, it was necessary to resort to hang up the profile pictures on barn walls in the village. It didn’t take long to fill the board, but residents remained true to their promise and began displaying profile pictures on buildings all over the village. The Facebook Page now has over 45,000 Facebook fans and visits to the Graubünden tourism website have increased by 250%.
