CASE TO HEAR SATAS MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITY ALLOCATED TO NDOLA BASED JUDGE The case in which civil rights activist Brebener Changala is pushing for the setting up of a medical board to examine president Michael Sata’s mental and physical fitness to continue in office has been allocated to a judge. The matter has been allocated to Ndola based Judge Isaac Chali. Judge Chali will tomorrow, (Friday July 11, 2014) set the date for hearing. The Judge will meet Changala’s lawyers Makebi Zulu & Company with Attorney General in chambers to set the date and deal with other preliminary issues. It is not clear which Attorney y General will represent Sata since the new officer bearer Musa Mwenye has not yet been sworn in owing to Sata’s inability to perform his duties due illness. Even Abraham Mwansa the new Solicitor General, who stands in when there is a vacuum in the office of Attorney General has not been sworn in for the same reasons. Probably some junior officers from the two offices will turn up. On Thursday, Changal filed court documents to compel cabinet to appoint a medical board to examine president’s mental and physical ability to continue in office. Sata has not been seen in public or heard saying anything for 20 days now. On June 20, he was evacuated to Israel unconscious where he remained in a comma for ssome time. Last Friday, he was sneaked back into the country but he is said to be in a vegetative state and unable to do anything. The government however maintains that Sata is very fit and just went to Israel for government business.
