CASTING CALL ***ABERDEEN BASED*** “THE FAILED ART OF AVOIDANCE” PREMISE: A short comedy based on two people (both of them want to avoid the other) forced to make a difficult decision when faced with a chance meeting: ignore or acknowledge? This short is focusing on both character’s reactions when confronted with this awkward situation and relies on body movement and expressions to convey their difference emotions in this shared moment. Minimal dialogue. MAIN CAST CHRIS (20 something guy): Slightly geeky and awkward in personality: this guy actively avoids confrontation at all costs. He is a very animated/expressive person who gets flustered easily and is torn by this decision when faced with bumping into… APRIL (20 something girl): She is a head strong girl who is stubbornly sticking by her decision to completely ignore him. She appears to be at ease of herself and is determined to remain cool in the face of awkward situations – usually masking her real feelings. SUPPORTING CAST GRUMPY OLDER MAN (30s-60s) A disgruntled man who has been having a terrible day. *CREW CALL* DOP Audio/boom operator Lighting Assistant – (maybe external shoot but would love to have someone who understands this field) Production stills photographer (optional but would be nice) Composor Post production audio designer Colour editor I am looking for people with access to their own equipment but more importantly those who want to go out, make shorts to build up portfolios/show reels and gain experience! I plan to do several more shoots this year and I am hoping to build up an excellent crew to work with when tackling bigger and more creatively demanding projects.
