CASTING....Knife crime Commercial directed by award winner martin smith Casting is ongoing as this one is a very quick turn around and needs to be finalised by a week on Friday - 21st March. All castings will be in Glasgow city centre from this weekend Sat 15th March to next week etc. SHOOT DATES: Glasgow - Surrounding Areas - 2 Days - first week in April. ( Dates TBC ) Mark Mark is around 16 years old, he should be of slim build and look like a lad who would grow up and live on a Scottish council estate. Although you don’t see Mark for most of the film, it is important to cast someone who will be able to get performances out of other actors. A lot of what you see from Mark is actions, we want these to come across as realistic and not ‘hammy’ - so the actor should be able to act well with their hands and body. He should have an obvious Scottish accent - West coast preferably. Ian Ian should be fairly similar to mark - a regular lad growing up on a council estate. Although mark thinks of Ian as somewhat of an antagonist, mark shouldn’t be ‘mean looking’ or ‘radge’. He could be fairly interchangeable with Mark - as though under different circumstances it could be Mark in Ian’s place. Ian is around 16 years old, he should be of slim build and look like a lad who would grow up and live on a Scottish council estate. He should have an obvious Scottish accent - West coast preferably. Mark’s mum Mark’s mum should be in her 30’s, and obviously look quite ‘mumsy’. She needs to be relatable to the people we are speaking to so she shouldn’t look middle-class, she should look like she’d live on a council estate. Whoever we cast has to come across as caring but with a wee bit of a tough side - like she’s a good mum. She should have a Scottish accent - the same as Mark’s. Mark’s dad Mark’s dad should be in his 30’s, and look like he’d be a mechanic. He should be fairly working class. He’s got a fairly stoic manner - a nice guy if a little rough around the edges. He should have a Scottish accent - the same as Mark’s. Mark’s auntie Mark’s auntie should be a little younger than his mum - in her late 20’s early 30’s She should be fairly attractive, enough for mark’s mates to give him grief about it. Quite brazen and maybe a wee bit streetwiser than Mark’s mum. She’s like the relatable cool auntie. Mark’s sister Mark’s sister is a wee baby around 1 or 2 years old. She should be quite cute to help with the emotive quality during the final scene. Other cast Mark’s mates and all the kids at the park should look like everyday kids who would kick about at a playpark. They should all be guys of around 16 and be very similar to Mark. They should be a little laddish and affable, and should be able to have natural banter with mark without it seeming forced or cringey please message me with a headshot, which character you fit and a contact number and age.
