CAT SUPPORTERS - The VA General Assembly is already hard at work and the fate of animals depends on your input. Please take just 5 minutes out of your day to learn who your legislator is below and then send an email and call him/her. We encourage you to vigorously support SB693, which would authorize the humane practice of TNR (trap, neuter and return) of community cats (rather than SB699, which would severely limit this ability). Additionally, I ask you to staunchly oppose HB1565, which would impose an unfunded mandate and unconstitutional obligation on local animal control officers to capture and impound companion animals on others’ property. SB693 would authorize localities like those in Northern Virginia to have the flexibility to use TNR as a way to help community cats and to boost public safety and public health. TNR programs save millions of lives every year and are a humane way to address and care for our outdoor feral kitty friends.
