CATHOLIC FAITHFULS IN NNEWI DIOCESE PRAY TOGETHER IN ATONEMENT For The SIN OF SACRILEGE COMMITTED BY MASQUERADE GROUP.The Bishop, priests numbering about one hundred and eighty together with the Catholic faithfuls from Osumenyi Deanery of Nnewi Catholic Diocese this afternoon gathered at St Matthews Catholic Church Ebenator during the Divine Mercy prayed to God whose priestwas beaten and desecrated by a masquerade group Mmanwu Ozoebunu and later went to the Church to destroy the Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary the Mother of God.The problem was said to have started when the masqueraders blocked a major road in the town in what seemed to have prior motive to get at the priest whose Council had taken a decision to let the Catholics to choose between allegiance to the Church or the Masquerade.When they could not make way for him topass he got his door glass wound down only to be flogged. In his anger the Priest Cyril Onwuasoeze got down to ask only for the masquerade who should be a spirit to appear with an axe trying to attack the priest who held the spirit and both struggled and and fell into the bush. It could have ended two spirits fighting if not that human persons now descended on the priest and manhandled him. They later went to the Church to destroy the Grotto.Highlight of the prayer session was sayingthe Rosary and the Benediction during which prayer for atonement was recited by all present.
