CAUTION!! Only read if you are looking forward to a new year or need encouragement:) Exactly 1 year ago, on New Years Eve, Pete and I (founders) were at one of my fave Zac Brown Band concerts in Detroit, Michigan, thanks to our buddy Justin King Outside Image who surprised us with this trip!! It was this night, that we made the official decision that I was going to leave my corporate job, and take Sunshine on a Ranney Day full time!! I cant tell you enough how this was the BEST decision I have ever made! I had worked almost 12 years doing something that I loved, but there was always something missing. I spent years working tons of hours, fighting to make more money and rise to the top... Looking back though, what I gained, was tons of business knowledge, awesome relationships with great companies including the one I worked for, and the foundation to start this charity. Everything seemed to fall into place. Pete and I started this as a hobby...we just wanted to use our resources and do something together to help people. One year ago today, I decided to take control of my own destiny and not to let others decide. We knew, that if the charity had someone dedicated full time, that we could help many more kids! And we have! We have doubled our makeovers this year! I know a lot of people out there are making New Years resolutions...feeling stuck in situations that youre in, feeling lost, wondering if you should take a risk....all I can say, is that if you really believe in something and you have a passion for it, go for it! Theres always going to be risk, but if you are dedicated and truly believe in it, you will succeed! Pete and I have been so blessed with all of the great people we have met. We do not have children of our own biologically (aside from Gracie pig & our 4 dogs), but when we are asked if we do, I say we have tons! Every child we do a makeover for, is one of ours! Waking up in the morning and going to these makeover houses and the kids waiting at the door to see us, is PRICELESS! Some of our volunteers have become some of our best friends! Some of our partnerships, are life long! I thank our board of directors for allowing us to make this decision and believing in us! I thank all of you for your continued support. We hope that you guys continue to follow our journey and meet the amazing families and projects we have planned for 2015. Thank you for being a part of the Sunshine on a Ranney Day family.
