CC Army, Signing Reminder! The Monster man Steve Niles is Signing, Saturday, DEC 20th at Collectors Corner 1PM - 5PM. Steve Niles is a writer. He writes comics, novels and films. Best known for works such as 30 Days of Night, Criminal Macabre, Simon Dark, Frankenstein Alive Alive, Mystery Society and Batman: Gotham County Line, he is credited among other contemporary writers as bringing horror comics back to prominence. Niles is currently working for four of the top American comic publishers - IDW, DC, Image and Dark Horse. Everyones favorite monster hunter Cal McDonald continues in the Criminal Macabre series from Dark Horse, as well as in stories currently being published by Steves own Bloody Pulp Books. The success of 30 Days of Night sparked renewed interest in the horror genre; Steves comic was released as a major motion picture in 2007 with Spider Mans Sam Raimi producing, David Slade directing and Niles co-writing the screenplay. Other comics he has written that have been optioned for film include Criminal Macabre and Aleister Arcane, as well as Wake the Dead, with Jay Russell in the directors chair. Currently, Steves Breath of Bones, The Tale of the Golem is set to be directed by Andrew Adamson. Stay tuned for more news as it comes... Coming from IDW, Steve is writing The October Faction, a new series of the ongoing adventures of retired monster-hunter Frederick Allan and his family. He is also working on Frankenstein 2 Alive! Alive! with the legendary Bernie Wrightson. Wrightson has also illustrated the Doc Macabre, The Ghoul and Dead She Said series with Steve, all published by IDW. Steve is almost finished with his 12 part run of Ash & the Army of Darkness for Dynamite, the long-awaited sequel to the movie in comic form. Just released, Monster and Madman with artist Damien Worm, as well as Ghosts of Krypton in the new Adventures of Superman. Niles zombie comic, Remains, was recently released as part of Chiller Networks Chiller Presents series. Its now available on DVD and BluRay. Steve was raised in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, developing his interests in music, writing, and making amateur films. He worked in several comic book stores and played in the bands Gray Matter and Three during the heyday of the Washington harDCore punk scene, both of which released records on Dischord Records label. Niles got his start in the industry when he formed his own publishing company called Arcane Comix, where he published, edited and adapted several comics and anthologies for Eclipse Comics. His adaptations include works by Clive Barker, Richard Matheson and Harlan Ellison. IDW released a hardcover and softcover collection of Niles adaptation of Richard Mathesons I Am Legend. Steve resides outside Los Angeles, with his fiancé, Monica, two dogs, four cats and Gil the tortoise. While theres no crawlspace, there is a questionable closet in one corner and no one is quite sure what is hidden in there... but we have an idea.
