CDF Talks: “Self-Advocacy for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo” On November 26th, 2014, CDF Regional Adviser Ms. Mirjeta Ramizi shared her experience of working with Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities to enhance self-advocacy capacities. A self-advocacy platform concentrated around the most pressing identified issues guided the efforts for ensuring the access to basic services and infrastructure for RAE communities in Municipality of Prizren and institutionalization of educational programs. With Ms. Ramizi’s support, RAE communities designed four advocacy campaigns and established four ad hoc working groups to advocate for identified local issues. Supported by CDF, more than 50 representatives of minority communities CSOs were trained in monitoring activities and drafting reports, public communication and advocacy. Three policy briefs targeting policymakers were drafted and two conferences are anticipated to be held on December 2014. Ms. Mirjeta Ramizi is an experienced social inclusion expert. She also serves as advisor to the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth in Albania. In past, she has worked with UNDP and OSCE on Roma and gender issues. She is currently doing her PhD studies on Social Work and Policies in the University of Tirana.
