CDL Drivers, a GREAT career.. Why is there a shortage?? I wonder why more young men & WOMEN are not considering this as a career. Automatic transmissions, GPS & E-Logs have replaced some old obstacles in the life of a driver. Having internet & smarts phones we can stream TV/movies along with facetime, skype & facebook that allow you to stay connected wherever you are. Most of all the MONEY --- we work to support our families & the financial security driving can offer your family is worth it. I think more people would enjoy the freedom of working alone away from the manufacturing plants, the assembly lines, fast food & the drama of coworkers. The horrible daily grind where you do the exact same thing every day, day after day after day. Smith Transport offers no touch freight, drop & hook freight & new equipment, and all types of hauls, from short local runs, long haul, regional and dedicated freight there is something for everyone. I wonder if people realize how much better the quality of life has become for a driver. When I started you had an atlas, a comdata card & a pay phone. Advancements in comfort, speed, power and reliability are unbelievable & lets not forget TRUCK DRIVING JOBS WILL ALWAYS BE IN DEMAND! With a Class A CDL you can literally WALK & find a job. Im shocked and saddened that more young people arent jumping into this career & also the career of being a diesel mechanic, we need those too!!
