(CEBU CITY - Public Information Office) 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST by PAG-ASA issued 5:00 a.m., Saturday, 09 November 2013 Tropical Cyclone Warning: Typhoon YOLANDA(HAIYAN) Typhoon YOLANDA has weakened while traversing the West Philippine Sea. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 a.m.) 405 km west of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro Coordinates: 12.4°N, 117.3°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 35 kph Forecast Positions/Outlook: Saturday afternoon: 760 km West Northwest of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Areas Having Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS # Signal No. 2 (winds of >60 to 100 kph may be expected in at least 24 hours) extreme northern Palawan Calamian Group of Islands Signal No. 1 (30-60 kph winds may be expected in at least 36 hours) Occidental Mindoro Lubang Island Oriental Mindoro Romblon Marinduque Batangas northern Palawan including Puerto Princesa City Cuyo Island northern Aklan Boracay Island northern Antique Semirara Island None Public Warning Signal elsewhere are now lowered. Estimated rainfall amount is from 10.0 - 20.0 mm per hour (Heavy - Intense) within the 400 km diameter out of 600 km diameter of the Typhoon. Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, Central Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under the aforementioned signal #2 are alerted against storm surges which may reach up to 5-meter wave height. The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.
