CECE UNITED SUSPENDS NORMAL ACTIVITIES The Management of Cece United Football Academy (CUFA), based in Saye Town, 3rd Street, Sinkor, has with immediate effect suspended all practice sessions and other academy related activities due to the tragic outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus. The measure was taken for the well-being of the kids earlier this week, and their parents and guardians were informed via calls and text messages about the decision. Speaking on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, the General Overseer of the Academy stated that the decision is in the best interest of the kids and that parents/guardians will be notified about resumptions of normal activities in due course. This second outbreak of Ebola is really worrisome and is essential that we keep the kids and technical staff safe. Football is a contact sports, and one of of the best ways to avoid Ebola is to avoid getting in contact with others. We at CUFA welcome and is strongly in support of the decision taken by the the Liberia Football Association (LFA), regarding the suspensions of football activities across the Country. We urges all of our members as well as all Liberians to abide by the status quo and continue to pray for Gods intervention. Cece United Football Academy (CUFA), a registered NGO established in August 2012, is a youth football program. This mini grassroots football academy, which is free to all children regardless of race, gender, and religion, seeks to educate young and talented kids about the beautiful game, help parents in bringing up their kids with good moral disciplines as well as making high emphasis on dedications to their academic studies, soliciting help for dropped out school-going kids, amongst others. The programs target aged 6-15 years, and currently consist of more than a hundred school-going kids in Sinkor and various communities around Liberia. Additionally, with our friendly and approachable staff, who players and parents can relate to, we aim mainly to offer professional football training sessions and develop the technical abilities of young kids through our programs, allow children to have a will, experience and build a sincere and honest appreciation to soccer game and also their regular academics studies, which will eventually lead them to be successful and meaningful members of the society. Moreover, CUFA have and continues to undertake academic, civic, football and other capacity building initiatives for the kids such spelling bees, academic challenge, clean-up campaigns, etc. Since its establishment, the Academy is yet to benefit from any permanent external support as funds for logistics and other expenses are normally raised among officials of the Institution thru weekly due payments. Presently, CUFA is in dying needs of technical and logistical assistance such as coaching tips, balls, socks, youth jerseys, shin guards, gloves, goal nets, soccer shoes, practice gears, cones as well as classroom and program materials. Kids in Liberia often play soccer barefoot or in rubber shoes, kicking around plastic bottles or tin cans, just to play a ball. To help eradicate this, a little bit can go a long way for these kids; every donation makes a big difference! Our heartfelt gratitude go to benevolent individuals and institutions such as the Robert A. Sirleaf Foundation, FC Fassell, National Oil Company of Liberia and Soccer4Hope-Liberia who have contributed immensely to our cause and grassroots football as a whole, nationwide.
