CECH: HARD TO EXPLAIN Petr Cech says the team must react quickly to yesterday’s FA Cup defeat with 2 crucial home games coming up next week. The GK produced an outstanding 1st-half save, which must surely rank with the very best he has made in a Chelsea shirt, but he could do nothing about the 4 Bradford goals that followed. It is the 1st time we have exited the FA Cup before the 5th round in Cech’s 11 seasons at the club&in his assessment of the 4-2 loss afterwards, the GK admitted it was not easy to pinpoint what exactly went wrong. ‘It’s 1 of the biggest ever surprises in the FA Cup,’ he said. ‘It’s 1 of those where it can always happen. Obviously we are not proud of the result but I wouldn’t want to take anything away from the Bradford team because they came here, they fought hard for their luck, they got chances&they scored 4goals. Credit to them. ‘I’ve been here for more than 10yrs&every year you can see these kinds of results in the FA Cup. That’s why I have always said it’s special. This can always happen&unfortunately for the 1st time I was on the wrong side of that. That’s the way it goes. ‘Sometimes it’s hard to explain why things happen. We came out for the 2nd half perfectly aware the game was far from over&it was going to be difficult. They came out,had a number of set-plays,corne rs&gained some confidence. We let them feel they might have some chances. When we conceded the 2nd goal we lost control of our game. We forced everything&it was not working for us.’ We will have a chance to put things right as early as Tuesday night when we host Liverpool in the 2nd leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final. A Wembley final is the reward for the victors. Then Man City visit west London in the league&bearing in mind the significance of those 2 fixtures,Cech stressed the need for a quick recovery. ‘We need to take it on the chin&pick ourselves up. It’s up to us. We have put ourselves in this position&we only have ourselves to blame for what happened. ‘We play at home on Tuesday&we would like to use that as an advantage. We need to clean the mess up.’
