CELEBRATE THE SOLSTICE: MINDFULNESS WALK THIS SATURDAY MORNING The Buddhist Temple of San Diego’s Buddhist Education Committee will be sponsoring a pleasant outdoor hike to kick off summer. Celebrate the longest day of summer with Dharma friends and family. Please join us Saturday, June 22 in Balboa Park for a short and easy hike. WHAT: Practice mindfulness and peacefulness for a few hours while living in and appreciating the present moment. The hike is designed to be short and easy, with low impact and gentle inclines, allowing a slow comfortable pace for all. WHERE: Meet at Sixth and Upas. Look for Mo Okita and Bill Teague. Bill will be wearing a BTSD hapi coat. We are starting at the northwest corner of Balboa Park. We will be taking the Jerry Schad Memorial Trail (aka city trail #43), which follows sidewalks and some road surfaces. It is a tree-lined, gently sloping route. Follow the #43 square purple trail markers. WHEN: Assemble at 8 a.m. for the 2.6-mile hike. We should be able to finish up by 11 a.m. before it gets too hot. HOW: Dress in layers for cool shady breeze and prepare for areas in the sun. Wear comfortable shoes for walking and bring some water and snacks if you would like. PARKING: Street parking is available within the park along Balboa drive, or along the streets of Sixth and Upas. CARPOOLS: If you would like to carpool, meet at the BTSD parking lot 7 a.m. to depart at 7:30 a.m. the day of the walk. Please let us know if you are interested in carpooling efforts. DAY OF WALK: Bill Teague will remain at the starting point if you get there late; phone or text him at 619-248-3749. No worries; no one is left behind. Your Sangha moves slowly! For more information contact Bill Teague at 619-248-3749 or post questions here. ~ BT
