CELLPHONE EXPERIMENT—Over summer I bought a 2008 Nokia. As in the year 2008, not the model number of some new smartphone. This thing is as dumb as, well, 2008. Only a handful of people know the number. Now when I need to concentrate or simply want to untether from the Borg, I leave my Android on airplane-mode or at home and bring the burner with me. It costs $10 a month to add a line but I dropped my data by $10 to compensate. Other benefits: 24-days of standby on the Nokia. If I ever drop my Nexus in the toilet Ill have a backup ready. My wife thinks I should be a real hipster and get a pager. Maybe.
