CENTRAL COMMITTEE TO MEET AT STATE HOUSE AT 11HRS The PF Central - TopicsExpress

CENTRAL COMMITTEE TO MEET AT STATE HOUSE AT 11HRS The PF Central Committee is expected to meet today at 11hrs at State House. The meeting now hangs in a balance because of Acting President Dr. Guy Scotts pronouncements. Dr. Scott indicated that the 16 suspended officials might not be allowed into State House until the Central Committee resolves their suspensions. This has raised tension in the camp led by PF Chairperson Inonge Wina. Further Scott has announced that the meeting will NOT be a formal meeting but will be a consult ion. This means that decisions could not be binding. The PF factions one led by Dr. Scott and the other led by PF Chairperson Inonge Wina, have been at war following the decision by the Central Committee that met on 13th November 2014, to adopt Edgar Lungu as the partys presidential candidate. This decision was supported by a petition of 63 (now 70) Members of Parliament. But Guy Scott nullified this decision made by the Central Committee and issued a Notice for a General Conference and 10 candidates have so far filed their nominations. A General Conference is slated for this weekend. Following what was termed as numerous constitutional breaches and unilateral decisions, the Central Committee suspended Dr. Scott from his position and referred his matter to a disciplinary committee. A few days later, Scott also issued suspensions for 11 members of the Central Committee and 5 Members of Parliament. To pressure Scott, 14 members (out of 18) of his Cabinet members planned to stage a walk-out from a scheduled Cabinet Meeting in what would have caused international embarrassment for Africas first white head of state. But Scott and Minister of Finance, Alexander Chikwanda are said to have persuaded the 14 to stay and matters resolve the contentious matters. Shortly after the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Kalaba announced that peace had dawned in the PF and Acting President Guy Scott will resolve all contentious issues including the issue of the 16 suspended officials. He also announced that a formal Central Committee Meeting would be held on Tuesday, 25th October 2014 to approve matters relating to the modalities of adopting a candidate.
