CFCP News: Platform 1 – Your Story Platform 1 – Artistic Entrepreneurship Tips from CFCP Your Story So now lets put the last 3 things together – Purpose, Brand Purpose and Impact by creating a story. So what makes you unique? Well your purpose for one thing is one of your critical USP’s another in the impact you want to make and who you want to make it on, this is another USP and your story, your story is totally unique. Use your USP’s to differentiate yourself, to open up better opportunities Your impact statement is a short message through which you are looking to gain permission to continue to your story or vice versa your by articulating your impact to someone you can gauge if they are a relevant person for you to continue to telling them your story. Not everyone will want to engage with you and this is not a problem nor a fault on your part. Understanding who you are, and what audiences you’re trying to reach, will mean nothing unless you can clearly identify and communicate your story. However, your story should be in your own voice, as it needs to be honest and authentic. Your story needs to be memorable, resonant and actionable. Your story should move your audiences emotionally and not through their wallet. Your story identifies what your passions are and serves as the foundation for all your future content developments. Tell your story of how your impact affect one member of the groups you are reaching and impacting on. Try to get three different stories. And remember your stories might change depending on who you are talking to – address each segment differently. Your story should be: MAGIC – Motivating your audience to your goal interactivity with great content M – Motivate – demonstrate that you are motivated – not about them taking a risk you are on the journey with themA – Audience – willing and ready to hear you – what are their interests – be audience centric – who are you talking to – what do they look and think likeG – Goal – what are you trying to achieve – but not just about you – demonstrate your passion, your persistence – your goals should be important to themI – Interactivity – make your audience participants and not passengers – engage them emotionally – get them to ask questions – get them to own itC – Content – your own experience – you know who you are – get them to tell the story for you – you come into this world with noting but you come out of it with your story – this is what you need to share See what Peter Guber has to say on telling your story: ift.tt/1tQuy5M To see more on artistic entrepreneurship – ift.tt/1ANyZVt About Ian Oliver I am the Communications Director for the Centre for Creative Practices.
