Celebrated author and historian Tom Desjardin, will walk you through the story of the 20th Maine Regiment, the soldiers who fought and won the battle of Little Round Top. Led by Colonel Joshua Chamberlain, the battle for the southern slope of Little Round Top on July 2, 1863 stands among the most famous and crucial military actions in American history and one of the key engagements that led to the Norths victory at Gettysburg. Our Expert Guide Our guide, Tom Desjardin, is the foremost expert on the story of the 20th Maine Regiment. Event Details All are invited to register and attend the event on November 22, 2014. The cost is $70 per person and includes the guided tour with Tom Desjardin, a buffet lunch at the historic Dobbin House and an autographed copy of Tom Desjardins Stand Firm Ye Boys from Maine: The 20th Maine and the Gettysburg Campaign. SPECIAL EVENT Chamberlain at Gettysburg Itinerary The day begins at 10 am where you will meet the author at Little Round Top to begin the tour. From 10 am to 1 pm, Tom will walk you through the story of the of the 20th Maine Regiment. The tour will be followed by a buffet lunch served at 1 pm at the Dobbin House. Who Would Enjoy the Tour? Everyone, from experts on the Battle of Gettysburg to first time visitors! Families with smaller children (under 12 years of age) may not find it suitable due to the subject matter. Special Considerations The tour includes some walking, so we advise wearing comfortable shoes. You will also occasionally walk on uneven terrain. If you are interested in attending the event and have special dietary needs, please contact one of our member Inns at least 72 hours prior to the event, so that arrangements can be made to accommodate you at the buffet lunch.
