CHANGE ANDTHE BEST OF 2015: During the campaigns for the APC Presidential Primary’s one of the aspirants i.e. Sam Nda Isaiah made his plans for Nigeria under IT’S TIME FOR BIG IDEAS slogan very popular because all Nigerians regardless of sectional, tribal or religious affiliations agree that Sam’s ideas are truly big, bold and the panacea for our national problems and we thank God that Sam is part of a united APC leadership wishing for change. The first declaration in his big ideas is to do with Nigeria’s disunity, i.e. “The first thing our government will (APC Government) do is to unite the whole of Nigeria as quickly as possible. As I have said in several fora, Nigeria is currently too divided to be called a nation. No country ever makes progress with the kind of divisions we see in our country today”. That Nigeria is a divided country is no big deal and infact not surprising because it’s an amalgam of different tribes, cultures, religions, nationalities and people. Everyone knows that Nigeria was conceived and created not to serve the interest of its people but that of its colonizers and their people. What is truly amazing about Nigeria is the inability of its leadership for over half a century from inception of national liberation and independence to create a national policy and milieu for understanding, fraternization and comradeship among its diverse citizens for national political, economic and social advancement but instead exacerbate all known national fault lines for selfish interests. It’s evident that the hideous disunity existing among Africans of pre – colonial period stunted African civilization and facilitated the colonization of Africa in the first place and evidence still abound presently that our inability to unite as a people and nations is degrading the African as an intelligent being and retarding our civilization and humanity. Among the 100 world greatest scientists, leaders, prophets, inventors, builders, painters, poets, writers, thinkers, revolutionaries, nationalists, etc, etc, of all time we hardly ever find an African in the list and we as Africans think we will always have the ‘GOODLUCK’ to compete propitiously with other races as equals in the management of human global affairs? The answer is clearly no! The South Sudanese are about 99% Christians but lacked national unity and peace, Somalians are virtually 100% Muslims and speak almost the same language but are also at war and Central African Republic (CAR) are fighting a war between Christians and Muslims and since there is no way all the tribes in CAR will be entirely Christians or Muslims, there exist a spectacular scenario indigenous only in Africa whereby Muslims and Christians or kindred’s of the same tribe are hacking each other to death! Nigeria and its people from all altruistic indicators was perfected and preferred by providence in Africa south of the Sahara to become the bastion of African civilization, renaissance and emancipation and for the advancement of the African people all over the world with dignity and as equal partners in every global affair. Nigeria will never reach that promise land and keep a date with its destiny for the emancipation of Africa if 2015 election is allowed to be wasted on the platform of greed, selfishness, tribalism, sectionalism, religious intolerance and corruption. The choices before us Nigerians in 2015 election are clear as daylight and by the Grace of God only we can make or mar our national aspiration for the best option among the choices by discharging our civic responsibility during the elections and patriotically standing firm by that option from manipulation. In a third world country where a political party has been in leadership for 16 years, it’s only a miracle and patriotic resoluteness of its citizens that can bring about the desired change. All the tell tale signals for the manipulation of the 2015 Nigeria elections have manifested itself already and some examples may add light here, i.e. i. Recently the leadership of the Nigeria Police turn itself into political agent of the ruling PDP by preventing legislative activities and tear gassing legislative leaders in the process because the Hon. Speaker decamped from ruling PDP to opposition APC, so how will they be neutral during 2015 election? ii. Opposition leaders were prevented severally from using national airports in the country, the recent one was at Maiduguri when the airport was closed by federal authorities but opened for use by Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff who decamped from opposition APC to ruling PDP, a clear sign of PDP prejudice. iii. The Nigeria electoral umpire i.e. INEC is completely a PDP institution and have never throughout its history declare that PDP have won a flawed presidential election, it took the former president of Nigeria i.e. late Umaru Yar’adua to declare his 2007 election as flawed, i.e. Leopard never change its spot. iv. In fact no criticism have ever rattled the prevailing leadership of Nigeria into threatening treason charges against the opposition like the declaration by the opposition to form parallel government in case of a rigged election, that implies the election is already rigged! v. The 2014 Governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States were marred by the use of masked soldiers suspected to be Niger – Delta Militants by the opposition and this shows the use of military by PDP for political advantage. vi. The abject corruption of the judicial arm of government in giving frivolous judgements in favour of the ruling party always and its inability to protect its independence as shown by the Justice Ayo Salami saga, etc, etc. Considering the amount of money that is supposed to have disappeared from the national treasury (e.g. USD20 billion claims by former CBN governor, USD10 billion from the federation account etc) and the level of corruption today, it is assume that anybody that is somebody in the country have been compromised and that the 2015 election results have been written and when the time comes it will be announce to the nation regardless of the desire for change and those compromised will assert the election as been free and fair and that only God gives power to whom He wills as if the power of the armed robber or kidnapper is also given by God. With this myriad of national mistrust of 2015 election it is apparent that Nigeria future will be faced with appalling consequences if government impunity is allowed to continue and the desire for national rebirth and change is trampled upon as usual. Nigeria needs a President that will run this country with fairness, justice, sincerity and above all with patriotism, a President that will unite all Nigerians for the enormous task of national development in spite of our disparity not a President that will aggravate our collective weakness for political gains. Nigeria is the most populous black country in Africa and the World and in the recent economic rebasing the largest economy in the whole of Africa. Accordingly Nigeria needs to have the most and the highest ranked universities, the largest seaports, the biggest airports, the largest and the best road and railway networks, the greatest agricultural production capacity, the best and the largest refineries, the most educated people, the best primary healthcare centres and hospitals, the most motivated workforce and kitted police, military and paramilitary forces, the best electricity and water supply system and indeed the best leadership in Africa, anything less than this is a perfect recipe for chaos and underdevelopment. With this modest submission I wish all Nigerians Happy & Prosperous New Year and may the CHANGE ANDTHE BEST OF 2015 we seek for ourselves and our nation become manifest by the grace of God – Amen!
