CHANGING OUR INNER STATES Prophet ﷺ has said; whoever is in the same state today as he was yesterday (in amaals and emaan) is at loss. We think we will automatically change and become liking good deeds so we wait for that day without striving towards becoming closer to Allah subhana wa taala. There is an example through Musa (as) life which shows the punishment of this mind set. The Bani Israel said to Musa (as) that Allah and his Rasool should clear the path for us and we will go towards success; they wanted a shortcut without mujahidah and striving. They were punished by Allah subhana wa taala who kept them in misguidance for 40 years. Similarly, we have been given a prophet with a much higher ranking; Prophet Muhammed ﷺ. We have been told to follow him ﷺ and we will enter jannah, but we look for other means which seem much easier to attain. We need to change our inner states so we are not deprived from true guidance. Ramadhan is the blessed month when the holy Quran was sent for our guidance; it is the best month to change. Even the put angels do dua against those who do not change their inner states and repent in this holy month.
