Returning and rest refers to repentance and faith, which are necessary to true salvation. V18 – 33 , Because God is gracious and have been willing to wait for His people to return to Him , He will certainly bless those who wait for him. Waiting is a confident and dependent trust in God. The reference to the bread of adversity and the water of affliction show that God teaches us lessons through circumstances when we will not listen to our teachers who call us to walk in God.
