CHAPTER A DAY BIBLE STUDY John 1 (Read John 1 today and come back for comments) The Word Became Flesh 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. Jesus is the Light. There is no way to know God, but through the Son, in fact when you see God speaking in the OT, this is through the Son. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. Jesus is the Light. There is no way to know God, but through the Son, in fact when you see God speaking in the OT, this is through the Son. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. Everything we have is made through Him and by Him. And when we believe in Him, we also take our form in Him. We die to ourselves and live to Him. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. John, explains John the Baptist was the Messenger not the Message. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. The invisible God Himself came in the form of His Son. And He is the Light. And no one knew it because He didnt come as expected. Even today, God doesnt do what we expect. It is our job to trust Him. He made us, everything around us, and we exist through Him. That fact alone shows His love for us and our worth to Him. Rest on this fact and let God be God. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— AMEN! Children born of God! Thats you and me What an amazing amazing revelation. You are a child of God. How do you become a child of God? Receive Him. Believe His Name. Jesus. Yeshua. God is Salvation. God is Deliverer. God loves you and has made a Way in His Son. Believe and Receive it. Dont try to achieve it. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Jesus is the Word made Flesh from the Father. Full of Gods ability and truth. This brings up our common definition of grace, which is commonly referred to as Gods Riches At Christs Expense or unmerited favor. Our question is does this make sense in reference to Christ? I believe Grace means Gods ability. And we get it through Mercy. 15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) John the Baptist is now sharing the Message. Jesus Christ. Notice here, John the Baptist is older, but Jesus Christ is eternal. This is a divinity claim. 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[b] is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. Received Grace in place of Grace means to me that God has already shown SO much Grace! And now He is showing even more by Sending His Son. The law was given by Moses and remember the Pharisees call themselves son of Moses, but we are sons of God. Under Grace and Truth through Christ. Notice here NO ONE has seen God. This is explaining that no one has seen the Invisible God, Father and Spirit, but He has given us a lens to see Himself which is through Jesus Christ, His Son. The Visible being shown from the Invisible. God and Him are 1. Just as the OT explains, God is One. Deuteronomy 4:35, Isaiah 44:6, etc. 32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.” The Dove is a sign of the Holy Spirit, A dove is very ginger and needs to be monitored carefully, it also will not place its feet on anything dead. This is why the Raven did not return because it had no problem resting on dead, but the Dove would not so it returned to Noah. Genesis 8. 40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter[g]). ... Peter was shown Christ by his brother, this is the same for us, we need to continually be showing people Christ out of love. Also, notice Christ changed the name of Simon to Peter, He has also changed your name, you are no longer the same creation, but are brand new, dont let the enemy tell you differently. It is the enemy tempting you, not some evil nature, you are brand new. 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. Philip repeats her what Jesus said to Andrew and Simon, Come and see. He doesnt try to convince Nathanael, He just says let me show you Christ. Christ does the rest. It is the same with us, just show Christ and He will back you up. 49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.” Nathanael catches on quick. You are the Son of God, King of Israel. 50 Jesus said, “You believe[h] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[i] you[j] will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’[k] the Son of Man.” Jesus doesnt deny it. He is the King of Israel. And now He makes another divinity claim. The angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man. Genesis 28 and Genesis 32. Notice here Jacob has seen the Son of God. In the Form of a Ladder This is the Son showing up in the OT way way way back in the day.
