These verses illustrate the progressive nature of sanctification. The life that comes from the knowledge of God can produce only good in its response to others. This is the product of character transformation through the empowering of the Holy Ghost. It begins with faith and results in love. That special love we are able to give to others without expecting something in return. We probably all of have heard fellow Christians say: “Don’t pray for patience, because you will receive a trial!” Perhaps a trial or test is the only way to develop these Christian attributes. Are we able to endure a trial without murmuring and feeling God is unfair to allow these burdens? Once we have established patience in our lives we can start bearing fruit for His glory!
