CHARLIE RANGEL -His mouth a dangle... Rep. Rangel Openly Insults the NYPD in Disgraceful Statement [VIDEO] As the nation has watched the racially-motivated and anti-police protests and riots that are occurring nationwide, some politicians and pundits have been coming down squarely on one side or the other of the debate. This was no more evident than with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who firmly placed himself on the side of the protestors in New York, making several anti-cop statements of his own. Unfortunately, the heated and vitriolic rhetoric resulted in two NYPD officers being assassinated last weekend. One of those officers, Rafael Ramos, was laid to rest yesterday in a funeral service that drew thousands of fellow officers. Although he had already been asked not to attend the funerals, because of his anti-police rhetoric, Mayor de Blasio spoke anyway, which caused thousands of NYPD officers to turn their backs to him, something they have done before, and aren’t shy about announcing. But now, according to Breitbart, New York Congressman Charlie Rangel is criticizing the NYPD for their move, saying it was done in “bad taste.” “It was poor judgment, and today was such a beautiful homecoming that for those people that had bad taste or put a bad face on a terrible situation, I for one got a spirit out of that service that we should be more considerate of each other and not be pointing fingers at each other and try to improve our behavior and our communication and appreciate what we’ve got,” he said. “It’s going to be hard for me to respond to any question that would be a critique of something that has been wrong. We lost two heroes. Now is not the time to be pointing fingers but coming together to see what we can do to work better together. Because one thing is clear, while we lost two heroes, every speaker made it clear that we, too, have a short period of time on this earth to do the right thing. And it was a sad thing, but the way the New York City police were lauded by people from all over the country just made us proud to be New Yorkers and to have the New York City police department.” Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, and Congressman Rangel is certainly entitled to his. However, Rangel’s opinion must be taken with a whole shaker of salt, considering that he still believes white people must be punished for slavery with reparations, and refers to Tea Party members as “white crackers.” Charlie Rangel has a history of making inflammatory statements, and he has little room to criticize the NYPD. Furthermore, the rest of his statement, which calls for an end to the finger pointing and a coming together of disparate peoples with differing opinions would have been nice to hear before two cops were senselessly gunned down after months of unabated anti-cop rhetoric from some of the very people that Rangel would consider his own constituents. Charlie Rangel is an unapologetic racist and corrupt individual, who somehow is still an elected member of Congress. Nothing he says should hold any weight, and his opinion, valid though it may be, can be summarily dismissed due to his own history of racially divisive statements.
