CHESTERFIELD POLICE ARREST / TICKET QUOTAS : This week chesterfield police came under fire when reports surfaced that officers are required to satisfy quarts by making a specific number of arrests and traffic stops each working day. Police ticket quotas are illegal in Illinois and California. Law enforcement officers should have discretion on when and where to issue traffic citations and not be forced to ticket motorists to satisfy a quota system. Arbitrary quotas on the number of tickets that have to be issued by police officers undermines the public trust in the police departments’ priorities.
